The History of Yin Style Baguazhang

In this section we provide a brief outline of the rich history of Yin Style Baguazhang. There are many sources for this material with some being written and others verbal. The stories of the line of succession in Yin Style Bagua starts with Dong Haichuan, the founder of bagua. Then to Yin Fu, who served as Dong’s top disciple, being trained the longest and who received the complete transmission of the art. Men Baozhen, a top disciple of Yin Fu, received a full education in both the martial and medical aspects of the art. His student, Dr. Xie Peiqi, learned the entire system as well and is credited with being the first to open the system to non-Chinese. Finally, He Jinbao, the current lineage holder of Yin Style Baguazhang. We will attempt to tell their story to aid the western reader in gaining a better understanding into this wonderful and effective martial art.
